How to reduce image file size while keeping useful detail
Upload forms, product pages and social platforms often limit image size. First find out whether the limit concerns bytes, pixel dimensions or both. TuBimei processes up to 20 static images per batch on your device, so you can inspect results without uploading the originals.
Separate file size from dimensions
KB and MB describe storage space; 1920 × 1080 describes pixel dimensions. Two photos with the same dimensions can have very different file sizes because of detail, noise, format and quality settings.
A 100 KB upload limit cannot be met just by selecting a particular width. Process one image, check its actual result size, then lower quality or reduce dimensions if needed. There is no automatic fixed-size guarantee in this tool.
Choose a format that fits the image
For photographs, JPEG or WebP offers quality controls. Start with a higher setting and inspect text edges, hair and gradients before reducing it. Confirm the receiving service accepts WebP before choosing that format.
PNG optimization is lossless: it re-encodes without intentionally discarding detail. An already optimized PNG may barely shrink. Transparent artwork can use PNG or supported transparent WebP; JPEG requires an opaque background.
Check the download, not just the slider
Preview at the size people will actually view. Small text, logos and line drawings can suffer from aggressive lossy encoding. An oversized photo may benefit more from proportional resizing than from lowering quality alone.
Only the compression tool can retain the original if the new encoding is larger. An unchanged original can still contain its original EXIF or GPS metadata. Check metadata separately when location privacy matters.
Step by step
- Open the compression tool and choose static JPEG, PNG or WebP files.
- Start JPEG / WebP at a higher quality setting; use lossless optimization for PNG.
- Compare actual size and appearance, then adjust quality or resize if needed.
- Download a single result or a ZIP containing successful outputs.
Frequently asked questions
Why did one image not get smaller?
It may already be optimized, or this encoding may produce a larger file. Compression retains the smaller original and labels it clearly.
Can you guarantee a file under 100 KB?
No. Different image content produces different sizes with the same settings. Adjust quality and dimensions gradually and check the downloaded result.
